Our History
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
— Rabbi Abraham Twerski
It all started in 1972 with a horse-crazy little girl visiting the Devan Stud with her parents. Devan Georgette was Robin’s first Morgan horse, and her love of the breed began.
In August of 1979, Robin’s parents, the late Gene and Ruthe Molaskey, purchased a flashy three year old chestnut mare, Tara’s Scarlet O’Hara, as her junior exhibitor mount. Several years later, the family bred Scarlet to one of the most beautiful stallions of the time, Waseeka’s Showtime (Waseeka’s Nocturne x Waseeka’s Thisizit), and WRA Timeless Glory was born. Timeless Glory bred to the World Champion, Nobility (Noble Command x Lost River Sanfield), would produce the foundation upon which Cherrydale would be built.

In 1988, Robin married the late Dr. C. Neilson Herrick, and in 1991 the farm that would become Cherrydale was purchased. It was in that year that the first Morgans to carry the Cherrydale prefix were born.
The bottom side of the pedigrees are filled with WRA Morgans that the Molaskey family had bred. In all, 21 Morgan horses were registered by Walnut Ridge Acres. Two of the Nobility daughters, Cherrydale Magdalene and Cherrydale Gabriella, would go on to produce World Champions Cherrydale Melania GCH and Cherrydale Casseopia. Casseopia carries five world titles of her own, but her value as a broodmare would become what dreams are made of. The birth of her son, WC Cherrydale Casanova, would shape the future of the program.

“The emotion and pride I feel in remembering each of these generations, dams, grand dams, great grand dams, etc. is overwhelming. It’s an amazing feeling as a breeder.”
